One of our key ingredients for success has been our deeply collaborative model. To reach thousands of African-American boys and men every year, the MOMLP brings together school districts, the faith-based community, and local law enforcement to engage in planning, joint training and conferences. Our strength is going into schools, working with churches and community organizations with year-round programming that gives hope and builds relationships, which has moved our program to a position of influence.
THE Tri-Vision
1) Far too many girls lack the necessary skills and tools to stand up for themselves and gain personal power. Through the lessons in our program, girls can learn the power of assertiveness to stand up for themselves and gain the confidence they need to be successful in life.
2) Because girls are constantly bombarded with unrealistic images of beauty and lack of positive representation of real role models. Our program is intentional in our design to equip them with the skills to navigate through self-doubt and insecurities by providing the confidence they need to overcome these obstacles.
3) Because having the power to say “no” to unhealthy relationships or situations is essential, and having the ability to skillfully articulate their boundaries is a key skill for any individual. Through our program, girls can gain the knowledge and understanding of how to be assertive so that they can protect their mental, emotional, and physical health.
Our MISSION
Our mission is to equip girls with the tools they need to learn how to become assertive and build strong relationships with those around them. Our mission is to empower every girl to gain confidence, learn how to say “no”, and most importantly, how to express their own opinions and stand up for themselves in the most productive, positive and respectful way. In addition, our mission is to tackles the issue of social media and its impact on girls’ self-esteem, one of the most pressing issues today. By understanding ways to be more mindful of their thoughts and how to be intentional about their consumption and usage of social media, it can be a powerful tool to help girls build their self-worth and self-confidence IF UTILIZED WITH INTENTIONALITY.
